Hunting at the Yates Lake Forever Wild WMA Property

 

The Yates Lake Forever Wild property is an Alabama Wildlife Management Area (WMA) and under the management of the Alabama Department of Conservation. As a WMA, this property is open to the public for hunting during scheduled hunting seasons, after obtaining the required licenses and permits from the State of Alabama.  Please click here for detailed information on the 2024-2025 hunting season schedule for the Yates WMA property. Hunting for deer with firearms is allowed only on specific dates during the season, but various smaller game can be hunted from a period of September through May. CRATA urges hikers on the John B. Scott and the Cherokee Ridge Dam Railroad trails to use caution and hike safely by wearing high visibility clothing and remaining on the trails at all times. Hunter Orange  outer wear clothing is a good choice.
