Smith Mountain Educational Exhibits

After an extensive research period, CRATA began production of tower and trail signage, kiosks, and wayside exhibits to inform visitors about the many elements of Smith Mountain Park.  Exhibits on the tower, trails and in the Park include information about the wildlife, forestry (especially long leaf habitat on the mountain), geology and soils, area mining history, turpentine industry, astronomy, weather and climate, the cultural landscape from the pre-Columbian period to the present and more.

By helping people understand the nature around them, we also help them become better stewards of the land and water.

Funding for the  Smith Mountain Park was provided by donations, our Partners and by a grant from Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, Recreation Trails Division.

The purpose of this page is to provide you with the images from all the Tower mounted, Wayside and Kiosk Panels in the park.
